A Successful Christmas Tree Shred

The Christmas Tree Shred and Wheelie Bin Cleaning event went ahead on Sunday on a crisp but sunny January morning.

FOGG Co-Chair and shred-organiser Peter Trickey led the way encouraging donations and helped to deliver trees to Acacia Tree Surgery for shredding.

Given that we were only able to confirm the event with a few days notice a pleasing stream of former Christmas trees and bins to be cleaned made their way to us. We are very thankful for the donations we received on the day. Thank you for putting your hands in your pockets for FOGG.

We were able to raise £310.82 on the day and hope to be update soon on where in the school this money will be going. A reminder that all funds raised go towards the learning and wellbeing of the children at Girton Glebe Primary School.

We would also like to thank once again Acacia Tree Surgery www.acaciatreesurgery.co.uk 01223 861 698 and Wheelie Fresh Bins www.wheeliefreshbins.com 01223 277 747 for donating their time, equipment and expertise to the event. We literally couldn’t hold this event without you. Thank you.

Friends Of Girton Glebe, FOGG, is Girton Glebe’s PTA.

We are a registered charity run by a dynamic and dedicated group of parents and school representatives. FOGG’s purpose is to support our school. We do this throughout the year with regular fundraising activities and events. All funds raised go towards the learning and wellbeing of the children at Girton Glebe, and our events help build a vibrant and cohesive community.

We have a rolling calendar of events including class cake sales which always go down a treat, well attended jumble sales and a very popular Christmas Fair, all run with the help of a merry band of volunteers from across our school community.

We have successfully raised funds for big and small projects including Mathletics, Forest School resources, World Celebration Dance workshops, Artsmark Award, Science week workshops, the 65th Anniversary celebration day and much more. With new projects and ideas taking shape, the next twelve months will be a busy period for the school and for FOGG.

Girton Glebe Primary School is at the heart of our village and FOGG is here to support the school and its community.
